responses and emotions is part of walking in wisdom and maturity one of the most difficult areas where self-control is needed is over sinful desires the Apostle Paul speaks of this struggle in 1 Corinthians 9:27 saying but I discipline my body and keep it under control lest after preaching to others I myself should be dis qualified Paul understood that the Christian Life requires self-discipline to resist the desires of the Flesh and live in Holiness whether it is sexual Temptation greed gluttony or any other form of self-indulgence Christians must rely on God’s strength to overcome these Temptations Romans 88:13 tells us for if you live according to the flesh you will die but if by the spirit you put to death the Deeds of the body you will live self-restraint is not
