Things I Hate About You which released in 1999 thank you so much for joining me as I check out this movie for the first time what do I know about it i know it’s a romcom and I know that Heath Ledger and Julia Styles star in this one and I’m really excited to watch another Heath Ledger movie cuz I’ve only seen two brokeback Mountain which I watched well before I started the channel and then uh The Dark Knight which was one of the first movies I ever watched on the channel click up here to go and check that out if you’ve missed it uh I don’t know who else is in this and I’m not sure what it’s about but based on the title 10 Things I Hate About You maybe this is like an enemy to lovers type of story that would be really fun but either way I’m excited to get into this uh the reason I’m which I watched and unfortunately during that reaction my camera froze so for a good like 20 minutes of the end of the reaction my camera is completely frozen and I felt really really really awful I miss when movies had blooper reels in the credits all right that was 10 Things I Hate About You thank you so much for watching my reaction i really appreciate it i’m so excited to talk about this if I had seen this movie back in 1999 or sometime shortly after i definitely definitely know that this would have been one of my favorite movies um and I would have watched it on repeat and it would have been one that stuck with me because I see myself a lot in Cat and I think that Cat would have been a fictional female like icon to me a role model because she is all about just doing her own thing not doing what’s expected of her and just carving her own path and hey if her chosen path aligns with people’s expectations cool if they don’t she’s very much like “That’s not my fucking problem.” And I love that about her and we kind of have similar lives i mean I don’t have a sister but I have a brother and we were raised by our dad so seeing Cat and Bianca also have the same thing my dad was not like him though my dad almost like encouraged us like “Yes please go to this party.” Yes you can go on a date that’s fine um my dad was definitely a lot more like you know he he was definitely strict with some things but when it came to like being a teenager and like going to the parties and going and experiencing the things my dad was very much like “Yes please go ahead learn have the experiences do the things.” Um so yeah my dad very much differed from their dad in that way but still it just felt very relatable to me and I just really really loved Cat i think that was such a solidly written character and I love female characters like that especially teenage female characters that are written that way um I also love the contrast between her and Bianca where Bianca is very much like the I want to be liked I want to be adored I enjoy feeling the good feels when that happens but also like she learns so much about this too especially with guys and you know what we do need those experiences sometimes to to realize that not everyone is nice not everyone has the best intentions um I really love that Bianca kind of like did her thing at the end of this movie and showed Joey what was up that was very satisfying to do and yeah Cameron cameron i mean all with the exception of Joey I feel like all the guys in this movie were great i mean Patrick we’ll get to him in a second but like we need more we need more Patrick’s in film and TV shows patrick was really really great but even Cameron too cameron was so sweet and Cameron was I mean the way that they went about all of this questionable but also very entertaining and also something that I feel like teenagers would just do too right like anyway it was just adorable to watch i feel like I had a permanent smile on my face during this whole movie and yeah this absolutely would have been a favorite of mine if I had watched it back then but as a mid30some year old watching this for the first time I just can’t help but feel like this was such a product of its time in the best way and it was very nostalgic to see like the the classroom and the outfits and you know even when they were in the bookshop when Patrick was walking around I was looking at the books that were on the shelves like seeing if I was recognizing any covers and stuff and there were like a couple books that I did recognize because I remember them you know from my own growing up and from my own childhood and stuff so that was just really really fun for me um the soundtrack in this was super good and yeah it was just a really cute story and h just so fun and then Patrick patrick what a great guy what a great guy and Heath’s performance of him was everything so so good i loved how you know I don’t know i just I loved how like I feel like he was hesitant initially about the whole thing i’d have to go back to that initial scene where he was like where it was proposed to him to you know go after Cat and being paid and stuff but yeah I I I had I had a good feeling early on that he was going to actually develop feelings it was their initial their initial bantering back and forth I think was very well done that was some solid dialogue writing right there to you know to have to have I almost said Julia to have Cat acted the the way that she was toward Patrick um but also you know you can tell that Cat had never had a a guy be like that to her before you know like to me it seems like Cat was just kind of largely uninterested in guys and probably because she had never really been like challenged like that I guess or at least have someone that can that can take what she’s saying and like be okay with it and then also like give it back right so like their initial banter was really cute and then just the way like it kept progressing was just super super fun and also felt very natural i really love that when he got the $300 the three I was almost about to say 300 bucks and then I changed to dollars like midway $300 when he was given the $300 you know I I love that he took that money to do something like really big and performative for her that scene was really fun i really really love that scene a lot and uh yeah just a really really great little couple um Heath and Julia adorable together not two like two actors that I wouldn’t necessarily picture together but now that I’ve seen them together I’m just like “Yeah you two make a good match.” Um yeah Heath is very cute his smile I feel like lights up a room and I was just sitting here giddy giddy giddy the whole time i absolutely would have had the most massive crush on him if I had seen this movie back in the day uh obviously now it feels weird to be like “Yeah I think I think Keith was in his 20s when this was filmed i should probably check how old he was but he seems like he’s at least 20 years old.” So I still feel weird in a way to say at my current age but h also there is very much me going back to my teenage years while watching this movie and feeling like a teenager again and I don’t know I think it’s okay to say that someone is very pretty and cute and that is Heath Ledger in this movie he is a pretty pretty pretty guy anyway even David’s character uh I’m happy for him i’m happy that he also found a woman and woman girl i’m also happy for him that is so great i love that Joey got what he deserved and I love that the six of them had their little happily ever afters and we can just we we can write and say that they’re together forever and it’s great anyway yeah this is a lot of fun i’m very happy I watched this uh so Tyler thank you for thank you for making me and I think that’s all I have to say about this movie it was good i loved it um yeah great romcom great late 90s romcom and with that I am so excited to go to Letterbox now to see what some other people have to say so let’s check it out five stars cat Stratford is the most relatable character of all time because I too am disgusted by all men except 20-year-old Heath Ledger okay so he was 20 years old good to know three and a half stars heath Ledger dances down steps with giant leaps christopher Nolan that’s him that’s our Joker five stars cat hates men me wo she’s literally me cat falls in love with Heath me wo she is indeed me five stars miss Perky was born in the wrong generation she would have loved Watt Pad i also love that a character written that way was named Miss Perky oh my gosh i have always thought this five stars does anyone else think that Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon Levit have the same face or am I just crazy i have always thought that they’ve looked aliked can I fucking speak apparently not today i have always thought that they look alike so it is not just you Molly i agree with you and now it is that time of 0.32 raised by our dad so seeing Cat and
0.32 Bianca also have the same thing my dad
0.32 was not like him though my dad almost
0.32 like encouraged us like "Yes please go
0.32 to this party." Yes you can go on a date
0.32 that&;s fine um my dad was definitely a
0.32 lot more like you know he he was
0.32 definitely strict with some things but
0.32 when it came to like being a teenager
0.32 and like going to the parties and going
0.32 and experiencing the things my dad was
0.32 very much like "Yes please go ahead
0.32 learn have the experiences do the
0.32 things." Um so yeah my dad very much
0.32 differed from their dad in that way but
0.32 still it just felt very relatable to me
0.32 and I just really really loved Cat i
0.32 think that was such a solidly written
0.32 character and I love female characters
0.32 like that especially teenage female
0.32 characters that are written that way um
0.32 I also love the contrast between her and
0.32 Bianca where Bianca is very much like
0.32 the I want to be liked I want to be
0.32 adored I enjoy feeling the good feels
0.32 when that happens but also like she
0.32 learns so much about this too especially
0.32 with guys and you know what we do need
0.32 those experiences sometimes to to
0.32 realize that not everyone is nice not
0.32 everyone has the best intentions um I
0.32 really love that Bianca kind of like did
0.32 her thing at the end of this movie and
0.32 showed Joey what was up that was very
0.32 satisfying to do and yeah Cameron
0.32 cameron i mean all with the exception of
0.32 Joey I feel like all the guys in this
0.32 movie were great i mean Patrick we&;ll
0.32 get to him in a second but like we need
0.32 more we need more Patrick&;s in film and
0.32 TV shows patrick was really really great

0.32 sweet and Cameron was I mean the way
0.32 that they went about all of this

0.32 it was very nostalgic to see like the

0.32 know even when they were in the bookshop

0.32 looking at the books that were on the
0.32 shelves like seeing if I was recognizing
0.32 any covers and stuff and there were like
0.32 a couple books that I did recognize
0.32 because I remember them you know from my
0.32 own growing up and from my own childhood
0.32 and stuff so that was just really really
0.32 fun for me um the soundtrack in this was
0.32 super good and yeah it was just a really
0.32 cute story and h just so fun and then
0.32 Patrick patrick what a great guy what a
0.32 great guy and Heath&;s performance of him
0.32 was everything so so good i loved how
0.32 you know I don&;t know i just I loved how
0.32 like I feel like he was hesitant
0.32 initially about the whole thing i&;d have
0.32 to go back to that initial scene where
0.32 he was like where it was proposed to him
0.32 to you know go after Cat and being paid
0.32 and stuff but yeah I I I had I had a
0.32 good feeling early on that he was going
0.32 to actually develop feelings it was
0.32 their initial their initial bantering
0.32 back and forth I think was very well
0.32 done that was some solid dialogue

0.32 to have I almost said Julia to have Cat

0.32 tell that Cat had never had a a guy be
